Beta-catenin Beta-catenin Its nuclear staining can be used to distinguish deep fibromatosis from other benign and malignant fibroblastic and myofibroblastic lesions. (Ref: Am J. Surg Pathol.29(5):653-659), and also useful to make a distinction between primary adenocarcinoma of the bladder (no nuclear expression) and secondary involvement by colorectal adenocarcinoma (81% nuclear expression). It can also be used to distinguish hepatocellular carcinoma from focal nodular hyperplasia, and to aid the diagnosis of solid pseudopapillary neoplasm of the pancreas along with E-cadherin and CD10. Its nuclear expression is also reported to be a common feature of sessile serrae adenomas of the colon.
